Learn More About the Position:
Ocean Conservancy’s Communications department wants a storyteller to join our team and help build a shared narrative around our ocean experiences by knitting together experiences from diverse racial, cultural and spatial perspectives to emphasize the importance of seeking solutions, learning from failure and working together to conserve our ocean and the people and communities that depend on it. We would welcome a Ray Fellow to bring his/her unique perspective to telling stories—at least eight over the course of a year—through authentic, heartfelt, high-quality words, photos, videos and audio that we will share broadly across Ocean Conservancy’s channels and potentially third-party platforms with a byline. You will have the opportunity to meet, interview and immerse yourself in the lives of ocean advocates from across our critical program areas: ocean acidification, ocean planning, trash free seas, Arctic, Gulf restoration and fish conservation. In addition to gaining invaluable work experience, you will be mentored by Ocean Conservancy’s Communications team to hone your skills in media monitoring, pitching stories, building communication strategies and building powerful narratives that stick. You will also have several opportunities to network with other NGO partners, participate in sessions with external decision-makers, offer creative solutions and contribute to conservation.
Bachelor’s Degree with a graduation date between June 2016 and June 2017.
