The serious business of saving our ocean
Ocean Conservancy champions innovative solutions based on rigorous science and smart policies.
We work across multiple sectors to drive change. We believe that the private sector plays an important role in advancing conservation through investments, sustainable business practices, and developing policies and solutions that can make a world of difference for our ocean and communities that depend most upon its health.
Ocean Conservancy does not accept corporate funding that compromises our independence, objectivity or integrity. Support from our private sector partners is directly invested in efforts to solve challenges like marine debris. We remain committed to fostering partnerships that advance our core values and mission to protect marine ecosystems so that they can support a sustainable supply of seafood, drive prosperous ocean economies, keep our water clean, and our beaches healthy.
Ocean Conservancy’s corporate engagement is built around:
Cause marketing increases awareness of our mission and work through brand awareness and affinity campaigns. Today more than ever, consumers look for products that not only meet their immediate needs, but give back to the community too.
A recent example of partnership with Ocean Conservancy is Norton Point, an accessories and clothing company based on Martha’s Vineyard committed to giving back to the environment. Norton Point is donating a portion of the proceeds from their sunglasses made from recycled beach plastic to Ocean Conservancy.
Sponsorships result in broader corporate participation in events that reinforce Ocean Conservancy’s mission and its programmatic objectives. Most importantly, it can enable us to make a measurable difference to the health of coastal communities and ecosystems, through increased participation in Ocean Conservancy’s flagship event, the International Coastal Cleanup.
Ocean Conservancy's International Coastal Cleanup has had a dedicated sponsor in Bank of America for more than 13 years. More than 2,000 employees participated in the International Coastal Cleanup in 2015. Bank of America is part of a prestigious group of corporate, foundation and government leaders committed to conservation action and community responsibility by supporting and participating in the world’s largest volunteer effort on behalf of the ocean. Sustainable business partnerships that result in a tangible conservation benefit, such as working with business and industry to reduce impacts on our ocean.
Ocean Conservancy’s Trash Free Seas Alliance® unites industry, science and nonprofit leaders that share a common goal for a healthy ocean free of trash. The Alliance provides the only forum of its kind focused on identifying opportunities for cross-sector solutions that drive action and foster innovation. Central to the Alliance's work is advancing new knowledge, understanding how materials enter our ocean, and identifying cost effective strategies to confront plastic pollution at the global scale.
