Dear Friend,

Right Whale Mother and Calf

Tell your elected officials you oppose any harmful changes to the ESA regulations!

North Atlantic right whales are among the most endangered whales found in US waters. The Endangered Species Act plays an important role in protecting these few remaining whales, but this landmark law is under attack. Tell your elected officials to do what they can to stop the departments of Commerce and Interior from making such a drastic change.

Right whales are under threat from speeding ships and entanglement in fishing gear and the administration's changes to the ESA regulations could put them in greater danger. This is a risk that right whales and other endangered species can’t afford to endure.

The Commerce and Interior departments are proposing to change the way the law is carried out, allowing government agencies to decide for themselves whether or not endangered species, like the right whale, could be harmed by their actions.

A change as big as this deserves careful thought and consideration, but it’s clear the Commerce and Interior departments are trying to rush this proposed rule through without proper input from YOU or Congress.

Contact your elected federal officials and tell them you are opposed to the proposed rule, and that it does not provide adequate opportunity for public comment. Our nation’s rarest and most cherished wildlife relies on the protections granted by the Endangered Species Act, and any change to these protections deserves full public review.

Sincerely,

Vicki Cornish
