With billions of dollars in fines resulting from the BP oil disaster, we have a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to protect and enhance the Gulf and its unique culture, and it is so important that we spend this money wisely. In order for restoration to be successful, it must be comprehensive—from the rivers that feed the estuaries, to the deepest expanses of the seafloor, where the BP oil disaster began, to the communities that call the Gulf Coast home.
