The BP Deepwater Horizon tragedy has already proved devastating for Gulf fisheries, and Ocean Conservancy is committed to working with fishermen in the region to recover from this disaster. We are partnering with them to help secure the assistance they require, and to ensure that sustainably caught seafood is part of the Gulf's way of life for generations to come. Ocean Conservancy has a long history working with fishermen on the ground in the Gulf. Over the years, poor management and unsustainable fishing practices dramatically depleted once abundant fish like red snapper, grouper and amberjack. We were working hard to address those challenges before the BP oil disaster, and we'll redouble our efforts in the face of this new crisis.
